This is six month old Brewster running around the yard with our Sheltie-girl Abby. Brewster is a skinny boy but an over-sized Sheltie baby. Despite his size Brewster is incredibly agile --- he dodges obstacles and runs over and under things as though he was born to do agility. If you are an agility person please take a look at Brewster. Not only is he agile but he is fast, fast, fast!

He is definitely in the baby chewing stage so his new family will have to keep him well stocked with the right things to chew on. Brewster will Go Potty on command and will sometimes indicate he needs to GO POTTY by running to the door (but this is not reliable yet and you have to be watching him).

Brewster knows some basic commands but he needs additional work to be a well behaved Sheltie especially if he’s somehow loose outside (which a good adopter will NEVER let happen --- right?). Brewster is pretty skinny even for a puppy so we’re trying to put some weight on him. Brewster LOVES his toys and will play by himself with them --- tossing the ball in the air and chasing after it. It’s a lot of fun to watch Brewster play with his toys.

Brewster also tries to play with our cat but he’s actually pretty good with her. When the cat lets Brewster know she’s had enough, Brewster goes away. Brewster loves to play fetch but does not bring the ball back to you --- but he’ll learn with some treats and lots of patient training. Brewster likes to play with other dogs but his play can be overwhelming for some dogs. He was relinquished to us because an older dog in his owner’s home did not like Brewster’s method of playing at all.

Brewster has some strong herding instincts and will try to herd children by nipping at their legs or grabbing their clothing. He was turned down by a friend of Brewster’s original family because of this. They had young children and felt that Brewster was too big and too intent on herding their youngsters for their comfort. But with adults who can be patient with his baby stages Brewster is a cuddler and lover.

If you'd like more information on Brewster or are interested in adopting him please go to our website at http://SheltieRescueUT.org and register and then fill out our online Application for Adoption.  You can also call us at 801-942-4762.  The adoption fee for Brewster's nonstop love is $385.00.
